FORUM:

Inclusion South Africa is a Working Forum consisting of National Organisations for people with Developmental and Neurological Disabilities.

 

KEY FOCUS AREA

To promote the inclusion of people with Developmental and Neurological Disabilities by directly linking and working with relevant government departments and sectors such as Education, Health, Social Development, as well Civil society, on issues relating to people with Developmental and Neurological Disabilities.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

INCLUSION SOUTH AFRICA is a working forum to promote and protect the rights of all people with Developmental and Neurological Disabilities in South Africa.

 

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To ensure that all people with Developmental and Neurological disabilities have equal rights;

  • To remove barriers to living;

  • Change society’s perceptions of Developmental and Neurological Disabilities;

  • To positively influence national policies and legislation for people with Developmental and Neurological disabilities;

  • To create equal opportunities for people with Developmental and Neurological Disabilities, in order to enable them to function optimally and to achieve their full potential in all spheres of life;

  • To develop and implement good governance within Inclusion South Africa;

  • To represent ISA nationally and internationally;

ROLES

  • Advocacy

  • Lobbying

  • Enhancing awareness and understanding of developmental and neurological disabilities

  • Networking with relevant national international organisations

  • Monitoring the formation and implementation of legislation pertaining to development and neurological disabilities.

 

MEMBERSHIP

Will be open to all national organisations dealing specifically with Developmental and Neurological Disabilities and at the discretion of the Management Board.

 

MEMBERSHIP FEES

Will be at the discretion of the Management Board.

 

COMPOSITION OF THE MANAGEMENT BOARD

The Management Board will consist of one representative from the national office of each of the member organisations and may not exceed 7 members.

 

CO-OPTION

The Management Board may co-opt additional ex-officio voting members as deemed when necessary.

VOTING

Each member of the board shall have one vote and the Chairperson shall have a casting vote in the case of a deadlock.

 

OFFICE BEARERS ELECTED AT THE TIME OF THE FORMATION OF ISA:

Chairperson - Solly Mokgata (SAFMH) Vice-Chairperson and Co-ordinator - Vanessa dos Santos (DSSA) Secretary - Noeline De Goede (ESA) Treasurer - Jill Stacey (ASA) These specific office-bears will hold their position for the period of one year, but may be available for re-election.

 

MANAGEMENT BOARD MEETINGS

Will be held at least twice a year whether it be in person or via electronic means.
